IPCRG Research school 2025: An introduction to implementation science studies in primary care


The 2025 IPCRG Research school will provide an overview of the field of implementation science. We are privileged to welcome an expert faculty who will lead the school during a face to face session in Brașov, taking place immediately after the 8th IPCRG Scientific Meeting on the 12th April 2025.
The Research school aims to build capacity in primary care respiratory research by providing interactive and hands-on training. Anyone with an interest in primary care research is welcome to join, including people new to the subject and those who want to extend their knowledge on implementation science. We also encourage Early Career Researchers to join the Research school, as part of our strategy to build primary care respiratory research for the future.
The Research school will include the following sessions:

  • Implementation Science in Practice - What do people think implementation science is? Ee Ming Khoo, Universiti Malaya
  • Implementation study designs, frameworks, context and types of evidence - Rianne van der Kleij, Leiden University Medical Centre
  • Knowledge translation: Reporting implementation science studies to inform the provision of health services - Hilary Pinnock, University of Edinburgh
  • Critical appraisal of implementation studies workshop: In groups critically appraise a paper to bring together learning from the course - Facilitated by Amanda Farley and the faculty.

We are delighted that Lisa Hirschhorn, (Northwestern University), a leader in the implementation science field will deliver an introductory webinar on Monday 10th February at 15.00 UK time.
This webinar forms an overview of implementation science ahead of the 2025 IPCRG Research school, which offers an overview of designing and evaluating implementation science during a face to face session.
The webinar will include:

  • What is implementation science
  • Some of the history of implementation science
  • Terminology
  • An overview of the different study designs and frameworks
  • The future of implementation science and where it's going next – where does it need to go?
