Engaging healthcare leaders in climate action
Aoife Kirk, MD, MBBchBAO, MPH, MRCPIThe planetary health and climate crisis requires health professionals to understand the interlinks between health and environmental changes, to reduce harm and to promote positive lifestyle changes. This presentation gives an overview of planetary health and the overlaps of lifestyle medicine and planetary health, with examples of climate action work health professionals are taking in Ireland and internationally to improve population health. The core competencies of lifestyle medicine present crucial opportunities to mitigate and build resilience to improve human health of individuals and communities.
