For his outstanding contribution to the modern theory of hydrodynamic and magnetohydrodynamic turbulence, including seminal work on statistical hydrodynamics, the multifractal formalism, and the numerical simulation of turbulent flows.

New Fluid Mechanics Fellows 2022

For his original contributions to the theory of Görtler instabilities and many other applications of adjoint equations to fluid dynamics, and leading role in forming a new generation of researchers.

For seminal work on the computation of capillary-driven fluid motion, made available worldwide by free software, and for the efficient resolution of bubble, droplet, wave, tsunami and ocean models.

Professor Olga Shishkina, University of Gottingen, Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization, Göttingen, Germany

For seminal contributions to the understanding of thermally driven turbulent convection, including Rayleigh-Bénard convection, rotating Rayleigh-Bénard convection, and horizontal and vertical convection, both by numerical simulations and by theory.
