B.J.A. Function
traumasurgeon
To me , the patient as individual is the centre point in the multi-disciplinary treatment of complex (non-) traumatic injury. I believe that it is important and of clinical relevance to take into consideration new innovative developments in the treatment strategy.
During my trainee ship as general and vascular surgeon, I attended a 6 months fellowship at the wound healing research unit in Cardiff (Head of the department Prof. Keith Harding) and started research in different fields of wound healing. As fellow of traumasurgery I was detached to the SEHOS clinic at Curacao were my experience in complex wound treatment evolved. Since my membership of the staff Traumasurgery complex wound problems are referred to my outpatient clinic.
Disciplines:
• Multitrauma patients, vertebral trauma, complex woundtreatment, complex (revision) amputationsurgery, shoulder surgery
• member multidisciplinary spineteam
• member multidisciplinary woundteam
