Vasso Anastassiadou holds a Professor position at the Department of Prosthodontics, Dental School, AUTh with expertise in Removable Prosthodontics and Gerodontology. She Is the founding person of Gerodontology in School of Dentistry. Within the field of Gerodontology and Geriatric Prosthodontics, she supervised clinically oriented MSc and PhD theses. The constant research training and involvement in Geriatric Oral-Health Care and Treatment has produced vivid and continual participation in national and international conferences and resulted in scholarships, awards, honours and published papers. She participated in numerous research, operational within education, initial vocational training and life-long-learning projects. Has been an active member and with several years of council duties in ECG. She serves in several administrative posts at the School of Dentistry and AUTh.

Dr Lene Hystad Hove is an Associate Professor at the Department of Cariology and Gerodontology, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Oslo (UiO), Norway. She graduated as Cand.odont in 1992 (Dr) and obtained her PhD in 2008 at UiO. She has worked as a dentist in the private and public dental health system and also as a clinical instructor at UiO. Currently she is the head of the Gerodontology department at UiO and is a member of the “Sampraks” group, which has been initiated by UiO in order to implement education in interprofessional cooperation between health care professions.

Dr Kazunori Ikebe is Professor and Chair at the Department of Prosthodontics, Gerodontology and Oral Rehabilitation, Osaka University Graduate School of Dentistry. He is an experienced dental researcher in geriatric dentistry and prosthodontics. His epidemiological and clinical research on geriatric dentistry encompasses a wide range of oral conditions, such as masticatory disorder and dry mouth, and relationships between oral health and general condition, and oral-health-related quality of life. Ikebe is perhaps best known for his work from the SONIC (Septuagenarians, Octogenarians, Nonagenarians Investigation with Centenarians) Study, with which he has been associated since 2010. This is a multidisciplinary research project focused on the health and longevity of older Japanese; it is conducted not only by dentists but also geriatric physicians, nutritionists, psychologists, and sociologists in Osaka University. Professor Ikebe has been honoured with the International Association for Dental Research, Distinguished Scientist Award for Geriatric Oral Research in March, 2015.

Masanao Inokoshi obtained his DDS in 2006 and his first PhD in 2011 at Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU) in Japan. In 2010, he got the Flemish scholarship for Japanese students and moved to KU Leuven (University of Leuven) in Belgium to conduct his second PhD training. During his stay in Leuven, he studied under Prof. Bart Van Meerbeek who is the head of KU Leuven BIOMAT research cluster. He obtained his second PhD in 2014 at KU Leuven (University of Leuven). In 2015, he became Assistant Professor at Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU) and since then has been teaching geriatric dentistry and working in the special care dentistry clinic at the Dental Hospital of TMDU.

Dr. Marchini teaches pre-doctoral and grad students in the Geriatrics and Special Needs Program and treats patients in the Faculty General Practice at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics. He acts as a general practitioner since his graduation in 1996, with an emphasis in prosthodontics and geriatric dentistry. His current research focus includes investigation of factors affecting geriatric oral diseases, conditions and dental treatments; and patients’ satisfaction with prosthodontic treatments. He is also interested on researching about the best way to teach dentistry, with particular interest to geriatric dentistry teaching. He is currently Chair of the Special Care Dentistry Association Council of Geriatric Dentistry.

Frauke Müller is professor and chair for gerodontology and removable prosthodontics at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. She received her dental degrees in Bonn, Germany and spend several years at the London Hospital Medical College, England. Professor Müller has been President of various learned Societies. She co-authored the ITI Treatment Guide no 9 on “Implant therapy in the Geriatric Patient” and the textbook “Oral Healthcare and The Frail Elder”. In 2013 she was awarded the IADR Distinguished Scientist Award in Geriatric Oral Research, in 2019 she received an honorary doctor from the University of Thessaloniki. Her research activity is mainly related to gerodontology, oral function as well as complete and implant prosthodontics.

Prof. Regina Roller-Wirnsberger is Professor in Geriatrics at the Medical University of Graz. She is President of the Austrian Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology, member of the full Board of the EuGMS (European Geriatric Medicine Society), EAMA (European Academy for Medicine of Ageng), IAGG-ER (International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics - European Region) and member of Action Group A3 of the European Innovation Partnership for Active and Healthy Aging. She is actively involved in numerous pan-European research projects, as well as in the development of training and continuing education programs.

Dr. Sayaka Tada is Assistant Professor in the Disciplines of Operative Dentistry, Endodontics & Prosthodontics, and Primary Dental Care & Population Health at the Faculty of Dentistry of the National University of Singapore. Her major interest is about the management of partially dentate older adults ranging from a clinical decision-making process to a public healthcare system. Currently, she is a principle investigator of the national oral health survey of ILTCs in Singapore. She received D.D.S. degree in 2007 and Ph.D. degree in 2012 from Osaka University, Japan. After post-doc training in University College Cork (Ireland) and Osaka University, she worked as Assistant Professor of the Preventive Dentistry (WHO collaborating center) at Niigata University (Japan) between 2016 and 2017. She is currently appointed as a board member of European College of Gerodontology as well as a committee member of Japanese Society of Gerodontology.

Martin Schimmel is professor for Gerodontology and Removable Prosthodontics at the Department of Reconstructive Dentistry and head of the Division of Gerodontology / School of Dental Medicine of the University of Bern (Switzerland). He obtained his undergraduate dental degree and Dr. med. dent. from the University of Mainz in Germany. The University of Geneva (Switzerland) awarded his postgraduate degrees Privat-Docent and MAS Oral Biol. He graduated as Swiss federal specialist SSO for reconstructive dentistry and founded Orophys LLC as a spin-off from the University of Bern. Martin received several academic awards including the IADR Unilever Hatton award for clinical research, senior category. Martin serves as an associate editor for Gerodontology and is member of the editorial boards of Clinical Oral Implants Research, the Journal of Oral Rehabilitation and the International Journal of Prosthodontics. He is president of the IADR Geriatric Oral Research Group (IADR GORG), past president of the European College of Gerodontology (ECG) and president of the Swiss Society of Gerodontology and Special Care Dentistry (SSGS). His professional career comprises wide clinical experience in private practice, university settings and geriatric hospitals. His academic interests include Gerodontology, CAD / CAM in prosthodontics, oral function and gero-implantology.

Prof. Murali Srinivasan is the chair of the Clinic of General-, Special care-, and Geriatric Dentistry at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. He received his dental degrees from India and from Switzerland. Currently, he is the president-elect of the European College of Gerodontology. Professor Srinivasan has received many awards in the field of geriatric research. His current focus is on the clinical applications of CAD/CAM technology in removable prosthodontics and geriatric dentistry.

Dr Sanja Thompson is a consultant geriatrician and physician at the Geratology Department and Acute General Medicine Department in John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford. She leads the undergraduate teaching and learning programme in Geratology for the Oxford Medical School. She has initiated new teaching modules in geriatric medicine, such as workshops on disability, interprofessional collaboration, and the development of communication skills with older patients with dementia, delirium and behaviours that challenge. Such workshops now form an integral part of medical students’ education and were also delivered to front-line professionals at OUH. She co-authored Oxford Case Histories in Geriatric Medicine (Oxford University Press), with interactive educational cases for senior geriatricians. Her research focuses on education issues in geriatric medicine, the involvement of older patients in geriatric education, as well as loneliness and isolation in older inpatients.

Georgios Tsakos is Professor in Dental Public Health at UCL and Honorary Consultant in Dental Public Health with the CNWL NHS Foundation Trust and with Public Health England. His research is mainly on: ageing and oral health, subjective outcomes of oral health and quality of life, health inequalities and the social determinants of health, and the relationship between oral and general health. He is currently Chair of the Platform for Better Oral Health in Europe and Co-President of the International Association of Dental Research (IADR) Behavioural Epidemiological and Health Services Research group. He is involved in the development of oral health indicators for WHO and in World Dental Federation (FDI) programmes and has worked with the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing and other epidemiological studies of ageing.

Dr Zervou-Valvi is Director and Head of the Dental Department - Special Unit for People with Disabilities, and of the Oral Medicine Clinic at the General Hospital “Voula’s Asklepieion” (National Health System, NHS). She is currently the Hospital’s Director of Medical Services. She completed her undergraduate studies at the School of Dentistry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and her postgraduate studies in Orofacial Genetics at the College of Medicine, Institute of Medical Genetics, University of Wales (Master of Philosophy). She is President of the Hellenic Society for Hospital Dentistry and Editor-in-Chief of the Hellenic Hospital Dentistry Journal. She participates for several years in the undergraduate and postgraduate education of dental students in Geriatric Dentistry, Oral Medicine and Hospital Dentistry and in the continuing education of dentists, medical doctors and nurses.

Dr Jennifer Hartshorn is Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Preventive & Community Dentistry, University of Iowa (UI), USA. She qualified at UI and completed her geriatric and special needs certificate at the same University. She received the Samuel Johnson Student Fellowship Award for outstanding care, clinical skills and a desire to continue training in geriatrics and special needs dentistry. She serves as Vice-Chair at the Council for Geriatric Dentistry, Special Care Dentistry Association (SCDA). Her areas of research interest are geriatric dentistry education, oral health programs for nursing facilities, critical thinking for interprofessional education, and geriatric oral health risk assessment. Among her current research topics is teledentistry for vulnerable elders.

Dr. Barbara Janssens obtained her degree in Dentistry in 2005 and a PhD in the field of Gerodontology in 2017 at Ghent University (Belgium). Currently she is the coordinator of Gerodent, a preventive and curative oral healthcare programme for nursing homes in Flanders, and responsible for research and undergraduate teaching in Gerodontology at Ghent University. Her research interests are the promotion of oral health in institutionalised care and the relationship between oral and general health. She has published several scientific A1 papers and book chapters and in 2015, she won the European College of Gerodontology research award. She is the past co-president of the European Association of Dental Public health (EADPH), councillor at the ECG, co-chair of the special interest group on Gerodontology at EADPH, member of the special interest group in Gerodontology at the European Geriatric Medicine Society (EuGMS) and board member of BENECOMO, the Belgian-Dutch research consortium on oral care for older adults.

Dr. Laura Kaufman is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and completed a fellowship training program in Geriatric Dental Medicine at Boston Medical Center (BMC) in 2012. She serves as a Clinical Associate Professor of Dental Medicine at Boston University School of Dental Medicine and in the Section of Geriatrics at Boston University Medical School. Dr. Kaufman previously practiced dentistry in Tel-Aviv, Israel and suburban Boston. She is an attending dentist in the Section of Geriatrics at Boston Medical Center (BMC) and together with dental students and residents, provides oral health care for homebound older adult patients. Dr. Kaufman also teaches in the School of Dental Medicine Pre-Clinical Removable Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry courses.

Anastassia E. Kossioni is Professor in Gerodontology at the School of Dentistry, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece. She obtained her DDS and PhD from the NKUA, her MSc in Gerodontology from the University of London, UK, and her Certificate in Open and Distance Learning from the Hellenic Open University. Her research activity is related to Gerodontology (Geriatric Dentistry) and Dental Education. She is currently President of the European College of Gerodontology (2019-2020) and member of the Academic Board of the European Geriatric Medicine Society.

Michael I MacEntee is a Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia. He is a past-president of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, the Geriatric Oral Research Group of the International Association of Dental Research, the International College of Prosthodontists, the Association of Prosthodontists of Canada, and the Vancouver Institute. He received the Distinguished Scientist Award from the International Association of Dental Research for his research in dental geriatrics, and is an elected Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. From 2012-2018 he was editor-in-chief of Gerodontology: The international journal of dental geriatrics.
His academic career - as a teacher, a researcher, and a prosthodontist – has focused on the education of dentists and dental hygienists, and on the healthcare of older people. Dr. Phoebus Madianos is Professor of Periodontology and Dean at the School of Dentistry, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He received his DDS degree from the same University and his clinical certificate in graduate Periodontics, as well as his PhD degree in Oral Microbiology from Gothenburg University. After working as Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina, he returned to Athens and joined the department of Periodontology at the University of Athens in 2003. He is currently the Director of the Graduate Program in Periodontology and of the Osseointegrated Implant Unit of the Dental School at the University of Athens.
He has been President of the European Federation of Periodontology and a Board member of the Continental European Division of the International Association for Dental Research. He is currently the chair of the Scientific Affairs Committee of EFP and of the organizing committee of EuroPerio10.
He has published over 80 scientific papers in international journals, which have received over 7500 citations, in the fields of periodontal pathogenesis, periodontal medicine and Implantology.
He has received international awards for his research activity, including the "Hans-R. Mülhemann Research Prize" from the Swiss Society of Periodontology in 1997, the "Anthony A. Rizzo Award" from the International Association for Dental Research in 2004, and the "Clinical Research Award" from the American Academy of Periodontology in 2006.

Dr Gerald McKenna is a Senior Lecturer and Consultant in Restorative Dentistry in Queens University Belfast. He qualified in Newcastle in 2004 and after a number of hospital posts in Edinburgh and Dundee, he completed specialist training and a PhD in University College Cork in 2013.
Gerald is a principal investigator in the Centre for Public Health in Queen's University Belfast where he leads oral health research. His main clinical and research interests centre around optimising the oral health of older patients and his work is supported by significant grant income from the National Institute for Healthcare Research (NIHR), the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Dunhill Medical Trust. Gerald is the current president of the Geriatric Oral Research Group (GORG) within the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) and he is the past-president of both the European College of Gerodontology and the Irish Division of IADR. Gerald has published widely in the scientific literature and his research has been rewarded with a number of prizes including the IADR Hatton Award, the ECG Research Award and the IADR GORG J Morita Award.
Gerald was a member of the Oral Health Policy group for the Republic of Ireland which developed the new National Oral Health Policy in 2019. He is an adjunct Professor in University College Cork whilst also serving as Associate Editor of Gerodontology and as a member of the Editorial Boards for the Journal of Dentistry and Evidence Based Dentistry.

Antonia Trichopoulou, MD, PhD, is President of the Hellenic Health Foundation, Professor Emeritus, School of Medicine, University of Athens. She has served as president of the Federation of the European Nutrition Societies (FENS) and as chairperson or key member of numerous Greek, European Commission and World Health Organization Committees. She has received numerous honors and awards and was decorated by the President of the Greek Republic with the Golden Cross of Honor for her work in nutrition and public health. In 2011, she received the Federation of European Nutrition Societies (FENS) Award for her “outstanding nutritionist career”.
Her scientific work has focused on public health nutrition and nutrition epidemiology, with emphasis on the health effects of the Mediterranean diet and traditional foods. Antonia Trichopoulou has been included in the 2014 Thomson Reuters list of the Highly Cited Researchers in the field of Social Sciences, General and in 2018 has been named a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics.

Dr. Ettinger is a fellow of the American and International College of Dentists and a Diplomate of the American Board of Special Care Dentistry. He has been a member of OKU since 1978. He is currently Professor emeritus in the Department of Prosthodontics and the Dows Institute for Dental Research. He was the Director of Geriatric Dental Programs at the University of Iowa. In 1979 he was awarded a 3-year curriculum development grant in geriatric dentistry by the Health Services Administration. In 1981 he was awarded a 5 year National Institute on Aging, Geriatric Academic Award, which was used to develop a mobile geriatric dentistry program for the care of nursing home patients by senior dental students. He was Associate Director of the University’s Clinical Core Center for Oral Health Research and Director of the Clinical Core which was funded for 5 years in 1992 by the National Institute for Dental Research and was refunded until the year 2001. He is a past-president of the American Society for Geriatric Dentistry and the Prosthodntic and Geriatric research Group of AADR & IADR. He was geriatric consultant to the 800 bed Veterans Administration Psychogeriatric Hospital at Knoxville, Iowa from 1985 to 2015. Dr. Ettinger has published over 250 papers and over 20 chapters in textbooks. He has lectured extensively throughout North and South America, Europe, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. From 1995 to 2012 he was the Editor in chief of the Journal of Special Care in Dentistry. In 2001 he was awarded by IADR the Distinguished Scientist Award in Geriatric Dentistry. He was named by IADR as the Distinguished Scientist in Prosthetic and Implant dentistry in 2010. In, 2016 he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Sydney University in Australia.

Professor Slack-Smith is a social epidemiologist using qualitative, quantitative and translation approaches (including policy) in her research. Her work has focused on disparities in oral health, child health, older adult health and Aboriginal health and she is a Professor in the School of Population and Global Health at the University of Western Australia. Linda has held international, national, university, government Board and community leadership roles in various organisations.
Internationally she is Editor-in-Chief of the journal Gerodontology which represents 4 major international geriatric dentistry societies, Vice-President of the Geriatric Oral Health Research Group of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), sat on international Council IADR 2014-2017 and was IADR ANZ Division President 2015-2017. She is also Co-Convenor of the Melbourne 2021 World Congress of Epidemiology. She leads a Worldwide Universities Network Collaboration in Oral Health and is partner on another collaboration in family and domestic violence. She is an executive and founding member of the Australian based Network for Integrated Oral Health. Linda was also a recent President of the Australasian Epidemiological Association and was Scientific Committee Chair for the Public Health Congress in Hobart in 2015. She was a Lead Applicant on an NHMRC Indigenous Capacity Building Grant ($2.5million) and WA Lead on the APHCRI Centre for Research Excellence in Oral Health ($2.5million), focusing on Aboriginal and older adult oral health. Linda was awarded the national Mentoring Award for the Australasian Epidemiological Association in 2019. She was co-recipient and senior author of the international Giddon Award for Distinguished Research in the Behavioral Sciences (International Association for Dental Research) awarded in London in 2018 with co-authors: Durey A, McAullay D, Gibson B, Slack-Smith L.

Mili Doshi is a Consultant in Special Care Dentistry at Surrey and Sussex Health Care NHS trust and the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability. Mili has always been very committed to training and improving oral health services for adults with additional needs and integrating oral health into general health. Between 2014 and 2019 Mili developed and led the Health Education England national initiative ‘Mouth Care Matters’ to improve the oral health of adults in hospitals in England.
Mili is past president of the British Society of Gerodontology and was awarded a MBE in 2018 for service to NHS dentistry.

Inger Wårdh is a specialist dentist in Orofacial Medicine and Associate professor in Gerodontics at the institution of Dental Medicine at Karolinska institute, Sweden. She has a long experience of older patients, education of dental students and research in geriatric dentistry, including supervision of PhD students. Her special interest is cooperation with other professionals to integrate support in daily living and nursing with oral care. There is need of higher priority of oral care and to find efficient methods that are suitable in nursing care of today for older people with an increasing number of natural teeth.

Dr. Adrian Yap is Head/Senior Consultant, Department of Dentistry, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. He is an Adjunct/Honorary Professor at several Dental Schools including the University of Malaya and Hong Kong, as well as an Adjunct Associate Professor of the Duke-NUS Medical School. On top of his academic accolades, Dr. Yap has also received many teaching, clinical/service excellence, and research awards including the NUHS-Mochtar Riady Pinnacle Master Clinician Award. He is known for his expertise in Temporomandibular Disorders, Dental Sleep Medicine, and Restorative Dentistry. Dr. Yap lectures worldwide and has authored more than 220 refereed journal articles (H-index of 44), 690 conference/seminar papers, several book chapters, and patents. He is a reviewer for numerous international journals and serves on the editorial boards of several including the Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, Journal of Craniomandibular and Sleep Practice (CRANIO), Operative Dentistry, and Journal of Adhesive Dentistry.

Andrew Geddis-Regan gained a BSc (Hons) in Primary Care (1st Class) at the University of Leeds in 2012 and went on to complete his BChD Dental Surgery (Distinction) at the same university in 2014. He was awarded Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) and a Dean’s Medal by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2016. From 2017-2020 he was an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow & Specialty Trainee (Special Care Dentistry) with Health Education North East, based at Newcastle University and Dental Hospital as well as other services across the North East of England. He also holds a Diploma in Special Care Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and gained Membership in Special Care Dentistry with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2019. In February 2020, he was added to the General Dental Council’s Specialist List in Special Care Dentistry. He is currently a Doctoral Research Fellow funded by the National Institute for Health Research and Honorary Special Care Dentist at Newcastle University and Senior Dental Officer (Special Care Dentistry) with North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr Tim Übermuth studied dentistry at the MH Hanover in Germany. He completed his PhD at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg, Germany. He obtained an MSc in oral implantology and an MSc in implantology and periodontal therapy at the Steinbeis University in Berlin. Since 1998 he is interested in general dentistry with a main focus on oral implantology, reconstructive oral surgery and prosthodontics; he is also trainer for implantology and guided surgery concepts.

Meletios A. Dimopoulos, MD is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Clinical Therapeutics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens School of Medicine, Athens, Greece. He has been elected Vice Dean of the Medical School for the academic years 2007-2011 and Dean for the academic years 2011-2015. In February 2015 he was elected Rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens for a 4 year term. He obtained his medical degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1985, completed a residency in internal medicine at the Royal Victoria Hospital, McGill University, Montreal, Canada and a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, USA.
Dr. Dimopoulos is a member of numerous scientific societies and has authored more than 1060 publications (July 2020) in peer-reviewed journals, as well as numerous abstracts and several textbook chapters primarily focusing on plasma cell dyscrasias and genitourinary and gynecologic cancers. He is a journal reviewer for several journals including New England Journal of Medicine, Blood, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Haematologica, Leukemia, Cancer, European Journal of Haematology, Leukemia and Lymphoma etc. Dr. Dimopoulos was Associate Editor of the European Journal of Internal Medicine (2001-2007), is an Associate Editor of Current Hematologic Malignancy Reports and is an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Clinical Oncology (2005-2008), of Haematologica, of Leukemia and Lymphoma, of Clinical Lymphoma, Myeloma and Leukemia (2018), of Expert Review of Hematology and of Blood Advances. Dr. Dimopoulos was an elected member of the Board of the International Myeloma Society (2013-2017).
Dr. Dimopoulos serves on the Scientific Advisory Boards of the International Myeloma Foundation, of the International Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia Foundation and he is a member of the Board of the European Myeloma Network. Dr. Dimopoulos organized the XIth International Myeloma Workshop and the IVrth International Workshop on Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia (Kos Island, Greece June 2007). In March 2013 Dr. Dimopoulos was elected as a member of the Board of the International Myeloma Society. Currently he is the chairman of the Greek Myeloma Study Group and of the Balkan Myeloma Study Group.
He is a recipient of the Robert A. Kyle Award for outstanding contributions to Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia (May 2003), a recipient of Waldenstrom's award for Myeloma Research of the International Myeloma Society (March 2017), recipient of the CoMy Excellence Award (May 2017) and of the Robert Kyle Life Achievement Award (June 2019). In August 2017 he was given the title "Officier dans l' Ordre des Palmes academiques" (Republique Francaise, Ministere de l' Education Nationale). In May 2018 he was elected as membre associe etranger of the National Academy of Medecine of France. In January 2020 he received the MD Anderson Distinguished Alumnus Award.
Currently he is the Chairman of the Board of the Foundation of “Julia and Alexander N. Diomedes Botanic Garden” and he is a member of the Board of the National Greek Committee for UNESCO.

I graduated from Newcastle University in 1979. Undertook basic clinical training in Bristol and Stoke on Trent before returning to Newcastle for an MRC clinical training fellowship leading to a PhD. I held a variety of posts in Newcastle before being appointed as Professor of Restorative Dentistry in 1994.
My research interests focus on the oral health status and care needs of older people. This is changing rapidly with many more older people retaining their natural teeth for longer, rather than relying upon full dentures. Consequently, the oral health needs of this population group are changing. This will impact both upon the individuals themselves and all carers for older persons. My research interests revolve around identifying oral health care problems for the ageing population and working with colleagues both to clarify the problem and develop interventions to address the issues concerned.
Served  as  President  of  the  British  Society  for  Gerodontology,  the  British  Society  for  Restorative Dentistry the British Society for Oral and Dental Research, the European College of Gerodontology and the International Association for Dental Research. I was a member of the RAE panel in 2008 and the REF in 2014

Dr Panagiota Saraki graduated from the Dental School of the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 1998. She practiced as a dentist in the UK until 2004 and while there, received her Master’s Degree in Periodontology form King’s College London in 2002. Parallel to her practicing, she spent a year as a Periodontology tutor for Undergraduate dental students at Guy’s Dental School at KCL. In 2004 she continued working as a private Dental Practitioner in Athens, Greece.
Since 2012 she has been the Professional &Scientific Relations Manager for Procter&Gamble Greece, representing the Oral b and Fixodent brand in the Scientific community. During this time she has trained the professional teams of Oral B, supported numerous activities involving Oral health Prevention and presented in several Scientific meetings. She still practices Dentistry and is based in Athens, where she lives with her husband and 2 children. She believes that a Healthy Smile leads to happier, more confident people.
