Abstract Submission



The Scientific Committee welcomes the submission of abstracts to the ECG 2020 Congress. Abstracts must be submitted in English through the ECG Congress’s official website: ecg2020.eu. Abstracts will be selected on scientific merit. An individual can submit one or more abstracts as presenter or first author.

All abstracts, regardless of whether they are submitted for oral or poster presentation will be reviewed to appraise the quality of the work presented. The Scientific Committee will evaluate all abstracts submitted for presentation. The authors will be notified regarding acceptance of their abstracts and the type of presentation by July 28, 2020.


The Organising Committee encourages the submission of abstracts within the following topics. All topics should be relevant to gerodontology:

Before accessing the submission form, please make sure that you have prepared your abstract according to the following guidelines:

Language: All abstracts should be submitted and presented in English, which is the official language of the conference, using accurate grammar and spelling suitable for publication. If in doubt, please arrange for the review of your abstract by a native English speaker or by a university scientific publications office (or other similar facility) prior to submission, as it will be reproduced exactly as submitted. No proofreading will be done.

Corresponding Author: The abstract submission form should be completed by the Corresponding Author, who will be responsible for all future communications regarding the submitted abstract.

Account: Each submitter (Corresponding Author) is required to create a user account indicating an account email address and a password. The email and password indicated will be used for all online forms of the Congress (i.e. Registration Form).

Abstract Title:
  • Abstract title should be brief and reflect the content of the abstract
  • The abstract title should be typed in lower-case letters, except for abbreviations and study names. Please be careful that your title might be truncated if you copy and paste it into the field.
  • Do not refer to study results or conclusions in the title of the abstract. The title should objectively describe the study.

Presentation type: Authors are invited to express their preference for oral or e-poster presentation; the final assignment will be made by the Scientific Committee.

Topic: Authors are invited to select the topic that better fits the scope of their abstract among the congress topics; the final assignment will be made by the Scientific Committee.

  • Names of authors should be written in upper/lower cases in the following way: {Full name with first letter in upper case (e.g. John)} {Surname (Family Name) with first letter in upper case (e.g. Smith)}
  • Please enter the first name in full, followed by the surname (Family Name), for each author, without abbreviations (e.g. John Smith, and NOT J. Smith). The names, e-mail addresses and full affiliations of all authors should be entered.

Affiliations: The Affiliation should be written in upper/lower cases and should include: Department/Unit/Clinic (if applicable), followed by the name of the Hospital/University/Research facility/Private Practice, City, State (if relevant), Country.

Text Body:
  • The text (excluding title, authors, and affiliations) should not exceed 350 words.
  • Organize the abstract according to four sections, identified by the following headers:
    • Background and aim
    • Methods
    • Results
    • Conclusions
  • Do not include tables, figures and photographs in the abstract.
  • References are not required, but if any, they should be placed in square brackets within the text and included in a separate list after the conclusions.
  • Place abbreviations in parentheses immediately after the first mention of a term or phrase; the abbreviation can then be used throughout the abstract.

Replacing or correcting an abstract submission: Do not resubmit an abstract through the online abstract submission platform. Do not submit the same abstract both through web site and regular mail. Any corrections should be made by e-mail to the ECG 2020 Congress Secretariat.

Registration fees: At least the presenting author is required to register and pay the registration fees to ensure the rights for the presentation, and the publication of the abstract in the Final Program and the Abstract Book.


  1. I herewith confirm that the contact details saved in this system are those of the corresponding author, who will be notified about the status of the abstract. The corresponding author is responsible for informing the other authors about the status of the abstract.
  2. I confirm that I previewed this abstract and that all information is correct. I accept that the content of this abstract cannot be modified or corrected after final submission and I am aware that it will be published exactly as submitted.
  3. By submitting my work, I consent to have authors’ names, affiliation and biographical material used in connection with the publication of this work.
  4. Submission of the abstract constitutes authors' consent to publication (e.g. congress website, programmes, other promotions, etc.)
  5. All authors offer consent to upload the (pre)recorded presentations and e-posters on the conference website. By uploading a presentation, authors give their consent to publish the presentation video to the participants of ECG 2020 also for a limited time after the Conference, to ensure visibility by all attendees and accommodate different time zones.   6. The Abstract Submitter & Author(s) represents and warrants that he/she/they is/are sole author(s) of the work, that all authors have participated in and agree with the content and conclusions of the work, and that the work is original and does not infringe upon any copyright, proprietary, or personal right of any third party. Also, that all statements declared as facts are based on thorough examination and investigation for accurateness.
  7. The presenting author must be a registered participant.
  8. The Organisers reserve the right to remove from any publication an abstract which does not comply with the above.
  9. I understand that the Organising Committee reserves the right to select the final Presentation format
The submitter signs for all co-authors. He/she accepts responsibility for the present rules for submission and presentation on behalf of all co-authors.
