ESC/SSA Student Travel Grant

The ESC/SSA Student Travel Grant is available to U.S. based students, traveling from the U.S. to Corfu (Greece) for the 37th General Assembly of the European Seismological Commission. This grant is provided under a cooperative agreement between SSA and ESC. Applications are due by 12 April 2020. Travel Grants cover the cost of meeting registration and provide a cash award of 1000 EUR.

In order to apply for the ESC/SSA Student Travel Grant each applicant has to submit:
  1. an abstract as first author
  2. a statement of interest, describing why the applicant would like to attend the meeting and the benefits he/she will obtain from it
  3. a detailed CV
  4. a letter of support from his/her academic supervisor
In case the applicant receives the grant, he/she must present the submitted abstract in either an oral or poster session during the 37th General Assembly of the European Seismological Commission.
All documents must be sent via email (info@escgreece2020.eu) not later than 12 April 2020, indicating in the subject the grant for which the applicant is applying.

Student Presentation Awards

These awards recognize the best student papers presented, either as oral or poster presentations, during the 37th General Assembly of the European Seismological Commission. Presentations will be judged by a special committee chaired by the principal convener of the relevant session. In judging the entries, consideration will be given to scientific rigor, contribution to the field, relevance to the conference theme and overall presentation. Please see below the awards for the first three places in each category (oral and poster presentation):

About the IASPEI Early Career Award: The winner of this award is expected to attend the next IASPEI Assembly will take place in Hyderabat in 2021 and will receive 1500 USD to facilitate his/her relative participation expenses, on the condition that he/she will present his/her work at the 37th General Assembly of the European Seismological Commission in Corfu.
About the ESC Award: The winner will receive the amount of 1500 USD on the condition that he/she will present his/her work at the 37th General Assembly of the European Seismological Commission in Corfu.
