Bernardo Barata

Short Curriculum Vitae

Dr Barata is a Psychiatry physician interested in Affective and Sleep disorders and is passionate about health-promoting strategies, particularly those related to sleep and sexual health.

He graduated in Medicine from the Nova University of Lisbon and had post-graduate studies in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. He is taking his MSc degree in Affective Neuroscience from the Universities of Maastricht and Florence and is being trained in Clinical Research by the Harvard University (Clinical Scholars Research Training).

He is a member of the World Sleep Society, European Sleep Research Society, and European Lifestyle Medicine Organization, and belongs to the Sleep Wakefulness Disorders and Human Sexuality Sections of the World Psychiatric Association. In the past four years, he had more than 30 presentations at scientific meetings, seven publications in scientific journals, and received three scientific awards.

He works in Setubal Hospital Center, Portugal, where he is a member of the hospital’s multidisciplinary team of Sleep Medicine. In addition to the pharmacological treatment of psychiatric disorders, he has experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia.
