Benno Krachler is consultant at the unit of Behavioural Medicine at University Hospital of Umeå, Sweden. After his medical studies at the University of Linköping he engaged in a clinical career in internal medicine in Kalix, a small county hospital in Northern Sweden. In parallel he obtained his PhD with a thesis on diet and cardiometabolic disease at Umeå University. Postdoctoral studies at the Research Institute of Exercise Medicine in Kuopio, Finland followed. Both, clinical and research interests concern health promotion in general and interventions for long-term change of living habits in particular.
