Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the European Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery, it is my great pleasure and honor to announce the launching of a long-anticipated educational initiative: the organization of the ESPN 2017 International Workshop, the first edition of which will take place in LYON-FRANCE on July 2-4, 2017.
The goal of adding this new workshop in ESPN’s educational activities is to provide state-of-the-art hands-on experience on Pediatric Neurosurgery. Introductory lectures by renowned experts will ensure sufficient theoretical background is provided, addressing at the same time some important interdisciplinary issues. Extensive hands-on sessions will ensure that theory is put to good use, and will include close exchange regarding tips and tricks, as well as practical issues of surgical treatment.
The topic addressed for this first edition of the ESPN International Workshop is “Craniovertebral Junction Surgery: Clinical and surgical pitfalls”. Participation is limited to 16 delegates, to facilitate interaction between attendees and Faculty and to enhance the hands-on experience. Registration will be offered on a first-come first-registered basis; however, priority will be given to trainees in their final year of internship or trained neurosurgeons. In order for this Workshop to be fruitfull, trainees must have sufficient neurosurgical experience.
The Department of Anatomy has considerable experience and expertise in this field; it is hosting the EANS hands-on courses and several neurosurgical workshops since several years. LYON is easily accessible by both air and railway.
We, Patrick Mertens, President of the French Neurosurgical Society, Carmine Mottolese, Director of Pediatric Department of the University Hospital of Lyon, and myself, cordially invite you to participate and look forward to welcoming you in Lyon in July 2017 personally.
