Thank you for your interest in being a presenter for the Inaugural Mediterranean Conference “Integrity as a Way Forward”! Below you will find a link to the form in order to submit your presentation proposal. Additionally included are guidelines and more information for presentation proposals. For additional inquiries, please contact the International Center for Academic Integrity at CAI-L@clemson.edu.
This Open Call is for individuals or small groups that wish to host a session, also known as a presentation. A “session” at ICAI conferences is an allotted amount of time for the said individual or small group to host the presentation the individual/group has created on an academic integrity-related topic. “Hosting a session” is just the same as “giving a presentation.”
PLEASE NOTE: You DO NOT have to be a team of presenters to submit a proposal. YOU MAY SUBMIT A PROPOSAL AS THE SOLE PRESENTER. We simply allow the option for multiple presenters should you desire to have more than one person presenting the presentation.
All proposals must be submitted by June 28th, 2016 at 11:59 PM EST to ICAI via the submission form on the website, www.academicintegrity.org/icai/events-4.php. Once you have submitted your proposal, you should receive confirmation within 48 hours from Sam Goodman, ICAI Program Coordinator. If you have not received a confirmation email within that time, please contact Sam at sbgoodm@clemson.edu or 1.864.656.1293.
ICAI will have an objective review committee consisting of academic professionals. The committee will begin its review after June 29th, and all submitters will be notified of the committee’s decisions by early July. If you are accepted but feel you are ultimately unable to present, please contact Sam Goodman as soon as possible.
We welcome presentation proposals that examine topics such as:
- Integrity as a societal value
- The development of ethical decision-making capacities
- Courage and integrity in the face of corruption and injustice
- Veracity in education and assessment
- Educative responses to breaches of integrity Inspiring, developing and supporting integrity “Champions”
- Research in academic integrity
Your complete proposal submission form should consist of:
Basic Information
Presentation/Session Title: The title you wish to be used in conference materials.
Presenter Information: Contact information and a biographical sketch should be submitted for each presenter (up to four presenters total); the biographical sketch should be a 50-100 word description of the presenter (e.g. current position, research/presenting experience, etc.).
Institutional Information: A brief description of the presenter(s)’s institution—public or private, total student enrollment, any special affiliation (i.e., religious), etc.
Format(s): An “Interactive Workshop” includes audience engagement/involvement—discussion, breakout groups, games, etc.; a “Poster Session” is a session focusing on research related to academic integrity; and you can describe any other format you intend to use in the “Other” section.
Target Audience(s): This is to denote who the session is most appropriate for: faculty, students, administrators, and/or others; additionally, whether or not the session is fitting for beginners, intermediates, and/or advanced individuals.
Technical Requirements: The standard equipment available in the conference rooms include a PC/laptop for PowerPoint presentations (Microsoft Windows only), projector and projection screen in addition to sound capabilities for internet or audio playback, internet connection, and, if requested, a flip chart. Please mark which items you will require, and describe any additional needs in the “Other” section.
Presentation/Session Information
Presentation/Session Abstract: This should be a brief (around 50-100 words) description of the session, focusing on the highlights of the content of the full proposal (see below). This description will be used in the conference materials, so it should provide a clear and concise idea of what the session will cover.
Presentation/Session Proposal: This is for the detailed explanation (250-500 words) of the session proposal and its content. This can include but is not limited to: the desired goals and learning outcomes, the program format, the research content and basis, and/or how the session relates to the conference theme (“Integrity as a Way Forward”). The proposal should provide the review committee with a detailed idea of the session and its contents. Please note you are NOT being asked to submit a full paper. If your presentation is based on a paper, the submission proposal should provide the committee a clear enough idea of what the paper/session will cover without showing the full paper to the committee.
The presentation abstract and proposal will be submitted within text boxes on the submission form; however, it is advised that you save the abstract and proposal in a separate document for your own records.
