Getting around Brussels
Public Transport: There is a wide-spread network of public transport with trams, busses and metro. One same ticket can be used during one hour on all forms of public transport and costs 1,40 € . You can buy tickets from the driver of the tram or the bus, or in the underground metro stations where they are sold at booths. Also available are day-cards, 10-drive tickets or 5-drive tickets. By train: Brussels Airport is less than 20 minutes away from the city centre. The Airport City Express links the airport with Brussels Midi, Central and North station four times an hour. The train station is located in the terminal building itself. Timetable information for the Airport City Express is available on the Belgian Railways ( SNCB / NMBS) website www.b-rail.be , enter ‘Brussels Airport’ as the departure or destination station.
By bus: The Brussels bus company MIVB/STIB, operates a bus link between the Brussels Airport and the railway station Brussels-Luxemburg. This line is operated by means of comfortable articulated buses with space for luggage storage.
By taxi: Metered taxis are available outside the Arrivals Hall.
Getting around Brussels
Taking the train to Brussels: Brussels train network is dense, well-connected with regular trains. Brussels Midi station is the main interchange for international services. Eurostar and TGV (Thalys) connections are available daily. Train fares are attractive.

Taxi stations are easily found throughout the 19 boroughs of Brussels. Fares are displayed on the meter and include service. Tips are left at your discretion.
Shuttles can be arranged from the airport to the hotels and from hotels to the congress centre and back.
Taxi's: You have to go to a taxi stand (taxi's won't stop for you if you try to make them stop by waving in the middle of the street) There is no typical 'taxi-look'. Taxi's can be of all different colors and car brands. Official taxi's have on top of the roof an illuminated panel (called 'sputnik' by the cab-drivers) with the mention " Brussels Gewest - TAXI - Région de Bruxelles".
There is a starting price (which depends on the time of day). If you go outside of the city limits, the rate goes up.The cost of a taxi drive from the airport to the center is approx. 30 € .

Trains to other cities: Brussels has three main train stations (North, Central, Midi). Trains to Belgian cities go from all three stations . In the Midi-station (or South-station) you can take the Thalys train to Paris (1h20min) as well as the Eurostar train to London (2h40min). For prices : check at the station counter.
