Currency and Money Exchange
The monetary unit in Greece is the Euro (€). Foreign currency can be exchanged at the airport or at the banks. All major Credit Cards, such as MasterCard, Visa, American Express are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops. Banks are open Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 14:30 and Friday 08:00 to 14:00.

Electricity Supply
In Greece the electrical power is 220 volts AC, 50 cycles. A round-pin adaptor is necessary for electrical appliances.

Climate
The weather in the Greek Islands in early May is generally sunny and pleasant. The average air temperature is 18-28oC (75-90 F) during the day and 15-23oC (66-84 F) during the evening.

How to get to the Conference centre
Transportation from Heraklion Airport to the Hotel and vice versa.
“Kazantzakis” International Airport of Crete, is situated 24km west of Creta Maris Hotel, close to the town of Hersonissos.

Transfers
  • By bus
    A shuttle service connecting the Airport to the Creta Maris and the official conference hotels and vice versa will be provided by the Conference Organizers at a cost of 10 Euros per person, per way. Travel time is approximately 20 minutes by deluxe, fully air conditioned coaches. Designated representatives, holding a distinctive sign of the conference will be waiting for the guests upon their arrival.  Pre-booking of shuttle service is necessary and is possible until May 10th. Onsite booking of shuttle service from the airport will not be available. Please click here to book your seat before May 10th, 2015.
  • By taxi
    Transportation by taxi costs: 45 Euro per way .

Cars from airport
In order to benefit from your stay in Crete during the Conference, special prices only for the participants will be ensured for car rentals. To pre book your car please contact Mr Spiros Lianos at s.lianos@erasmus.gr . All cars are equipped with air condition. If you wish to pick up your car at the Airport, please note that there will be an additional charge.

Smoking Ban
Smoking is forbidden in enclosed places of work in Greece. This includes office blocks, various buildings, public houses/bars and restaurants and company vehicles. Smoking will not be permitted indoors at the congress centre. Some hotels have rooms for smokers.
