Pasadena is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. It is one of the primary cultural centers of the San Gabriel Valley.

The city is known for hosting the annual Rose Bowl football game and Tournament of Roses Parade. In addition, Pasadena is also home to many scientific and cultural institutions, including the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Fuller Theological Seminary, Art Center College of Design, the Pasadena Playhouse, the Norton Simon Museum of Art and the Pacific Asia Museum.

Visitors, residents, workers and students can get around Pasadena without driving their cars. That’s because Pasadena’s General Plan has as one of its seven guiding principles that Pasadena will be a city where people can circulate without cars.

Named the most bike-friendly city in LA County, Pasadena has 50 miles of bike routes to jobs, shopping centers, schools and Metro Gold Line stations.  ARTS bus service  now operates seven routes. Also, MTA recently introduced a faster way to get to LAX, on the Union Station Fly Away. A new pedestrian plan is also being developed to improve the quality of sidewalks, crosswalks and paths for those who walk whether to work, stores, transit stops or just for enjoyment.

And for those who work in Pasadena, JPL, Caltech, Art Center College of Design, Western Asset Plaza and the city of Pasadena are some of the city’s large employers providing incentives to thousands of employees to carpool, take mass transit, bike or walk to work.
