The Scientific Committee welcomes the submission of abstracts to the Congress. Abstracts must be submitted in English through the on-line abstract submission form.

The instructions for authors, contained on this page, must be followed carefully. Abstracts will be selected on scientific merit.

Oral Presentations
Computer projection facilities (powerpoint presentation) will be available in the meeting rooms. The Congress Organizing Bureau will supply all necessary audiovisual equipment; therefore personal laptops are not needed. Presenting authors will receive all technical information and instructions on presentation prior to the Congress.

Poster Presentations
Posters must fit the size of the poster board: 1,20 cm high by 80 cm wide. Presenting authors will receive all technical information and instructions on presentation prior to the Congress.

Submission deadline and general policies
Abstracts should reach the Congress Organizing Bureau no later than July 14, 2008.
All abstracts, regardless of whether they are submitted for oral or poster presentation will be reviewed to appraise the quality of the work presented. The Scientific Committee will evaluate all abstracts submitted for presentation. The authors will be notified regarding acceptance of their abstracts and the type of presentation by July 31, 2008.

Registration fees should accompany all abstract submissions. Presenters are expected to attend the Congress and are required to pay the registration fee and all expenses involved.
The presentation of the abstract and its publication in the Final Program and the Abstract Book is conditional upon payment of the registration fee by the presenting author. Please note that in case we do not receive the requested payment, the abstract, much to our regret, will not be included neither in the Abstract Book nor in the Scientific Program of the Conference.

Abstracts must be submitted in English language.
Important: Any person submitting an abstract can only be the fist author for one abstract.

Abstract content and format
Abstracts should be structured and consist of the following parts:

Introduction or Aims – should be informative and brief, stating why the study was conducted
Material & Method – stating the locale, number and type of human subjects, non-human species or material being studied, the principal test(s) held, and the types of statistical analysis if appropriate;
Results – confirming or confuting the hypothesis, backed up by statistics if appropriate;
Conclusions – indicating the effect of the study on patient management, our understanding of basic processes with the organism, or the way in which we teach students or patients.

Also, please note thefollowing:
  • Begin with the title of the abstract in capitals. Use lower-case letters for the rest and do not indent. The title should portray the contents and should be no longer than 100 characters.
  • List the authors with the initials first, followed by the family name (i.e. B. Richarson, J. Cable and A. Former). Do not add in professional title or degrees. A number between brackets should correspond to each author and institution, when authors come from more than one institution (i.e. B. Richarson(1), J. Cable(2) etc.)
  • Start with Introduction, followed by Material, Results and Conclusion. Do not leave a blank line between paragraphs. The text must be a maximum of 350 words. The several sections of the abstract – introduction or aims, material and methods, result, conclusions – are not to be typed in bold.
Example:
TITLE-TITLE-TITLE-TITLE-TITLE
B. Smith(1), R. James (2)
(1) 1st Dept., (2)  2nd Dept.
